Anita
Lerek is founder, president and general counsel of Advocate Placement
Ltd. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 1981. She was in private
practice until 1991, specializing in employment and trademark law.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, Anita worked as a community college
teacher, a book editor, and a literary agent. She has an M.A. in
Sociology from the University of Toronto. In 1986 she helped found
Advocate Placement Ltd., a lawyers-only human resources service
specializing in consulting and lawyer recruitment, contract, permanent
and merger, throughout Canada. Since 1991 she has worked exclusively
for Advocate Placement.

Ms.
Lerek is past chair of the Canadian Bar Association (Ontario)
Law Practice Management Section, and is on the executive of the
Canadian Corporate Counsel Association, Toronto Chapter. She
has taught the Practice Management and Professional Responsibility
course in the Bar Admissions Program (Ontario). Ms Lerek is a
speaker on numerous panels and workshops relating to lawyer marketing,
human resources, and career management. She has a special interest
in and gives priority to, candidate advocacy.
Anita
has a strong attachment to history, especially holocaust studies.
She is a published short story writer, as well as an art lover
and an enthusiastic art tour guide. She is an active and long-standing
member of a fine arts board that produces a high volume of fine
art exhibits per year.
Anita
is married to an archivist, and has a child who is suddenly an
adult and in Management Studies at McGill.

Trevor
Branion is the Manager of Candidate Development at Advocate Placement.
Called to the Bar in 2000, Trevor has practice experience in Administrative
Law, Professional Responsibility, Civil Litigation and Family Law and
brings with him a unique appreciation of the legal profession in Ontario.
He completed his Articles of Clerkship and first year of practice at
the Law Society of Upper Canada, where he developed a solid understanding
of professional ethics and witnessed first-hand the pitfalls associated
with legal practice. |

|
For
three years, Trevor was a provincial offences prosecutor and legal
counsel to the Travel Industry Council of Ontario, where he successfully
prosecuted some high-profile provincial offences cases and helped
raise industry and consumer awareness to promote a fair and informed
marketplace. Following a stint in private practice, Trevor, himself,
recognized the need for a career change. He returned to the GTA to
apply his legal knowledge and psychology background to Advocate’s
Candidate Advocacy Division. Trevor understands candidate needs and
realizes the necessity of a good fit from both the candidate ’s
and client’s perspective.
Trevor
is a doting dad to his daughter, Emma and has been happily married
for over ten years to his lovely wife, Jeannine. In his spare time,
Trevor enjoys Karate, foosball, movies and music. Although quickly
approaching middle-age, Trevor can still be seen singing at stop
lights with the radio blasting. |

Jeff
Childs is Manager of Research and Projects at Advocate Placement.
A 2000 call to the Bar, Jeff has practiced
primarily in employment, commercial litigation and research.
He completed
his Articles
at the Ministry of Labour and that experience, as well
as his subsequent experiences in the private sector, has
given him a distinct
knowledge
of employment issues and the legal employment market which
he applies to APL ’s
Contract and Project Division.
Jeff is an avid and eclectic student of history, studying everything
from the fall of Rome to modern times. Other interests
include movies, music, and cheering the Maple Leafs. A connoisseur
of fine beer and
better Blues (music that is), Jeff is frequently spotted
at various pubs throughout Toronto. |
