Direct-Hire Placement Defined
Direct-Hire Placement is when a lawyer introduced to a
client by APL works for the client, and the client pays the APL Lawyer
directly.
Aims and Objectives
APL works hard to ensure that the matches it makes
between lawyers looking for work and its clients looking for lawyers
rests
firmly on a solid foundation of shared values, expectations,
and work modes. We believe firmly in relationship marketing, and
go to great
lengths to understand the detailed needs of both client and
candidate. It is very difficult,
and sometimes impossible, for lawyers working at full-time permanent
positions to canvass the market for appropriate
new positions. You come to us. Clients come to us. Then
we come to you with the clients. You simply have to let us get to
know you so
we can "find the fit" for you. "Fit" in APL terms
means far more than just compensation and legal tasks.
We look at personality in a variety of important contexts such as client
relations, co-worker
relations, lifestyle expectations, and work habits.
Such variables as work assignment, training and development,
promotion, compensation, performance evaluation, internal
and external interpersonal style, and lifestyle issues are
all explored. Using APL’s rigorous analytical tools and
asking many questions, APL consultants will come up with the
best fit for all concerned.
Through the use
of our recruitment services targeted specifically to client needs,
and our years of experience, we will save you the
time and expense of looking for that right "fit".
The
Process
APL employs legal professionals who
are also human resources specialists in order to provide
you, the candidate, and the client with the best lawyer
fit. APL operates under a team approach. So you are assured
of the fruits of co–ordinated efforts rather than of
competition.
Stage One:
When an order comes in a director manages it. A search
is made of the APL database and of any Internet or paper
advertising responses. If needed, some networking
contacts are consulted.
Stage Two:
Then the screening stage ensues when the candidate list
is progressively refined – in consultation with the
client on a names basis – by detailed telephone and
in–person interviews to flesh out the specific factors
required by the client and matched by the candidates'
attributes. No resumes are forwarded without your
express authorization.
Stage
Three:
After
APL's interviewing and screening procedures, APL will
set up an interview solely between the candidate and
client at a time that is mutually convenient. We expect
our candidates to do their research on our clients, be
prepared for the interview, and attend the interview. We
also provide our candidates with a preparatory phone
call before the interview. We encourage our candidates
to ask our clients questions at the interview and do as
much "due diligence" as they can.
Stage
Four:
Once a client chooses a candidate, the chosen candidate
will be contacted by APL immediately. Those candidates
that are not selected by the clients will also be
contacted. The terms of employment are negotiated and
finalized between the client and the candidate.
Confidentiality The utmost confidentiality is assured to all individuals
and organizations dealing with APL. Before we send your resume
or identify you in any way to the client, we first obtain your express
authorization to do so, after providing you with an explanation of
the position details. In addition, all communication to you is
carried out
with the utmost discretion.
Payment
The client and the APL Lawyer will decide upon the APL
Lawyer’s reasonable compensation to be paid for the first year.
However, prior to sending any APL Lawyers to an interview
for a direct hire position APL will determine a reasonable salary
range and communicate
such to the APL Lawyer. |
