Gerry is
Vice President, Corporate Solutions of APL. His
responsibilities include recruiting lawyers for in-house
positions as well as for major law firms.
Gerry
studied law at McGill University and was admitted to
practice in Quebec in 1975. Prior to joining APL, Gerry
worked as a securities lawyer at the Quebec Securities
Commission and most recently at ICI Canada inc, formerly
C-I-L Inc and prior thereto Canadian Industries Limited
where he served as its long time Senior Vice President,
General Counsel and Corporate Secretary retiring
as its President. In that capacity he presided over the
privatization of C-I-L, numerous corporate name changes,
divestitures, U.S. anti-trust lawsuits, the Oklahoma
City bombing case and the hive off of its pharmaceutical
and agricultural businesses to a new company called
Zeneca now Astra Zeneca.

Gerry
brings many years of in house corporate legal experience
as well as many years of dealing with major law firms
across Canada and the United States. In addition to
hiring lawyers in-house and hiring law firms for
specialist needs, Gerry has seen it all from product
liability, competition (as well as anti trust),
Investment Canada, intellectual property, commercial
issues and mergers and acquisitions, employment, human
rights and litigation.
Gerry is
an Emeritus Member of the Association of Canadian
General Counsel, married to Francine with two children
and is an avid sportsman having played college football
and coached elite level baseball. |
