Under an APL-Contract
Placement, the APL Lawyer works for you, the client, and APL
acts as your agent in paying APL Lawyer.
Use APL Lawyers as if they are your own. Because APL Lawyers
work on your premises with your facilities, you are
supplying part of the overhead yourself and therefore
reducing costs. You save a portion of the legal fees paid to
outside counsel. You also retain financial and task control.
Under an APL Project Placement, we send you as many APL
Lawyers as you need, for as long as you need. Working at
your premises, APL Lawyers will focus solely on your
project. This service is particularly useful for document
review, especially with regard to large-scale litigation
matters.
Aims and Objective/Benefits
We can help you achieve
cost reductions and productivity (or revenue) gains through
supplying you with APL Lawyers on a flexible contract basis:
-
excellent risk free
trial period toward a permanent hire. We offer you a
credit from your contract placement fees toward any
permanent placement that ensues
-
to save the time and
expense of recruitment advertising, resume review, and
screening
-
to meet client needs
despite head-count limitations
-
to reduce excessive
reliance on permanent employees or outside file referral
-
to deal with
increased workload due to work surges, projects, trials,
corporate transactions, or new areas of practice
-
to cope with
decreased lawyer workforce due to scheduling conflicts,
family leaves, vacations, illness, staff turnover,
sabbaticals, and secondments
-
for document review,
especially with regard to large-scale M&A work and
litigation.
We aim for maximum
flexibility. We can send you an individual or team of
lawyers. Part-time arrangements are available and, upon a
maximum of two weeks notice, replacement or termination of a
lawyer is possible. An extended assignment through APL could
provide an excellent risk free trial period toward a Direct
Hire.
We save you the time and expense of recruitment advertising,
resume review, and screening. As both lawyers and
professional recruiters, we can help you avoid costly
errors. Above all, the utmost confidentiality is assured to
all individuals and organizations dealing with APL.
What We Will Do For You
APL Legal Team: The lawyers that we send to you
originate either from our extensive well maintained lawyer
database of over 8000 resumes or through print or electronic
recruitment advertising on your behalf, on either a named or
unnamed basis. For APL-Contract Placements we often use
specialized sole practitioners with whom we have developed a
relationship over the years. These practitioners offer a
rich contribution in terms of background, skills,
availability, and work job appreciation.
Procedure: After you return our standard Client
Request/Agreement form, APL lawyer/human resources staff
will carefully screen candidates by means of one or more of
the following methods, as agreed to between us, namely,
telephone or personal interviews, checking one to two
references and receiving sample writings and/or practice
highlights. All the written reports stemming from these
methods will be duly forwarded to you.
The Mechanics
You pay us and we in turn pay the APL Lawyer on your behalf
and retain our portion of the fees. We take care of all the
candidate administration matters. So he/she is off your
books, and will not add to your headcount. In order to
encourage retention and high candidate quality, we pay
APL-Contract lawyers single medical/dental benefits free of
charge, and deduct CPP and EI as a safety-net for them. They
pay their own taxes and so enjoy benefits of independent
contractor status as well.
Fees
Our hourly rates vary
according to the APL Lawyer’s amount of experience. Please

Confidentiality
At APL, we value our client’s privacy – we never, unless
requested, advertise our clients’ names and only reveal them
to those candidates that are deemed a good fit. As a result,
we ensure that you are not bombarded with unsolicited
resumes. In addition, because of our respect for privacy, we
never forward an unsolicited resume to you. If you have
further questions, our
Privacy Policy further
outlines our responsibilities and practices.
