SERVICE
Under an APL-Contract Placement, the APL Lawyer works for
you, the Client, and APL acts as your agent for paying the
APL Lawyer.
We send you as many APL Lawyers as you need, for as long as
you need. Working at your premises APL Lawyers are focused
solely on your project. This service is particularly useful
for large-scale legal review both in securities and in
litigation.
PROCESS
APL operates under a team approach so you are assured of the
fruits of co–ordinated efforts rather than of competition.
Once we have discussed your needs, including those
intangibles which often make or break the right fit, we
spring into action. We provide in-depth searches of our
comprehensive database of legal professionals (7500+ resumes
and growing) based on the key variables discussed with you,
as well as drafting and running complementary ads in the
Ontario Reports and in various career websites.
We then review those candidates who meet our stringent
requirements, doing both preliminary phone screening plus
face-to-face interviews. Only then do we send you reports
and resumes on most suitable candidates. For APL-Contract
Placements we often use specialized sole practitioners with
whom we have developed a relationship over the years.
Once you have decided to meet with a candidate, we assist in
helping to set up interviews, debrief both you and the
candidates, and help to answer any questions you may have.
Even after you have selected the candidate(s) for your
contract placement, APL is there to support you, you
throughout the placement, assisting you in ensuring that any
issues that may arise are resolved.
We also assist in replacing any candidates that may depart
during the contract period.

We
aim for maximum flexibility. We can send you an individual
or team of lawyers. Part-time arrangements are available
and, upon a maximum of two weeks notice, replacement or
termination of a lawyer is always possible. An extended
assignment through APL can also provide an excellent
risk-free trial period toward a Direct Hire.
Use APL Lawyers as if they were your own. Because APL
Lawyers work on your premises with your facilities, you are
supplying part of the overhead yourself and therefore
reducing costs. You save a portion of the legal fees paid to
outside counsel. You also retain financial and task control.
We save you the time and expense of lawyer advertising,
resume review, and interviewing. Our clients have
acknowledged the superior comprehensiveness of our screening
procedures, including our detailed candidate evaluation
forms, the benefits of which are passed on to our clients.

Because our contract workers are provided with medical and
dental benefits, APL is able to attract and motivate high
quality candidates for our clients.
FEES
You pay us, based on a formula determined by the candidate’s
year of call and we in return pay the candidate(s) on your
behalf, retaining a portion for our fee. We also provide
candidate(s) single medical/dental benefits free of charge,
and deduct Canadian Pension Plan and Employment Insurance as
a safety-net form them. The candidate(s) pay their own taxes
and enjoy all the benefits of independent contract status as
well.
CONFIDENTIALITY
At APL, we value our client’s privacy – we never, unless
requested, advertise our clients’ names and only reveal them
to those candidates that are deemed a good fit. As a result,
we ensure that you are not bombarded with unsolicited
resumes. In addition, because of our respect for privacy, we
never forward an unsolicited resume to you. If you have
